Experience

My path to teaching and tutoring has come from many twists and turns. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business at Alverno College in 1992. I worked for some top companies in the Milwaukee area for the sixteen years before getting laid off from Ameritech. I used this layoff as an opportunity to go back to school and get my Master's Degree in education from Mount Mary University. While I did work in business some of my greatest memories came from extra opportunities I was given by these companies to work in the community. I have been able to teach personal economics and importance of banking to students of all ages while I worked for M&I Bank. As an Ameritech Pioneer, I worked in day cares with small children. When it was time to decide what I wanted to next, teaching seemed like the best, most powerful choice. As I worked in urban schools, I quickly realized that students needed extra time and help from me to succeed. Tutoring just became an extension to my teaching day. It was very rewarding. I have and will continue to tutor with enthusiasm. I love helping kids see their own potential by relating their learning to the real world. I share my experiences and struggles as a way to show students that everyone can overcome their difficulties. Encouragement and praise are key helping students want to learn. My hope is to provide tools that will help students in tutoring sessions and in school so that they can succeed in any situation. Because of my background, I project that lifelong learning is the objective and giving up is not an option. I love reading, cooking, listening to different types of music, and watching movies from all eras. This also helps me relate learning to all types of individuals. I hope that I can work with your upper elementary or middle school student to excite and motivate your child’s learning wherever he/she is struggling or needs help.
