Education
I graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Biology from Illinois State University in May 2015 with a GPA of 4.0. During graduate school, the courses I took focused on ecology, conservation biology, biostatistics, and plant biology. Through conducting my own research project, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the scientific process and scientific writing. I also won several awards at Illinois State including Masters Student of the year in May 2015. As an undergraduate, I attended Loras College where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in May 2011. My course work at Loras covered a broad array or topics such as genetics, molecular biology, evolutionary ecology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and much more.
Experience
While at Illinois State, I served as a teaching assistant for 3 years where I guided undergraduate students through laboratory exercises covering a wide range of biological concepts. This position required that I work extensively with students individually to ensure they understood the lessons being covered. This often required that I broke down the complex concepts being covered into their simpler components and then explain these components in a manner that was easy to understand, but yet still accurate.
