Experience
I attended Ripon College, where I earned a B.A. in History and Spanish Language and Literature. I completed my degree with high honors. Since earning my degree, I have been able to spend 2 years immersing myself in the Spanish language and culture by teaching and tutoring English private classes in Spain. In total, I have 4 years of work experience in tutoring English and Spanish. Spanish is the subject that I am most devoted to and it is my favorite to tutor. My thorough understanding of Spanish allows me to teach students how to master the finer details of the language. I truly believe education gives people the opportunity to reach success in both their professional and personal endeavors. My role as a tutor is to provide the support to bridge the gap between a student's capacity to learn and their understanding of the material. In my work as a tutor, I help students to become more independent as a learner by promoting the growth of their critical thinking. I do this by finding new ways to present the material to them and by posing questions towards the student to encourage their confidence. I believe this helps to inspire the student throughout the learning process. When I am not tutoring or teaching, I work to enrich my mind and body by reading, dancing, hiking, and traveling.
