Math is my specialty and it's the subject I most love to teach. Algebra, Calculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, ACT Math - you name it, and I can teach it! I've even tutored university students for an Academic Olympics competition. Whether I'm tutoring at the university level or in elementary after-school programs, I try to communicate my love of Math to my students.One way to communicate that love is through the use of example-based teaching. The beauty of this method is that it brings Math off the whiteboard and into real life. I can use any number of examples, whether my own or student-directed, to show how Math applies to the things we care about most. For example, all of my hobbies - soccer, basketball, skateboarding, and surfing - have a mathematical side. If my students can see that, then they can see the mathematical side of their own hobbies and interests. A student who previously struggled with Math might see that his or her hobby and Math are one and the same. If the student can make that association, then some of the fascination with the hobby can transfer to Math as well! As I continue to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Biomechanical Engineering at Marquette University, I look forward to further opportunities to share and spread my love of Mathematics.When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy spending time skateboarding, playing soccer, and surfing.
