My goal as a tutor is to help students find math attainable and enjoyable. I understand that sometimes people look at math as too difficult, but I believe that with the proper guidance, students can understand math and learn how to apply their knowledge to be successful with it. They may even come to like it. I like to take complex ideas and break them down into building blocks, guiding students through the steps to understand these basic principles and then building them back up. This process can help me identify where students need help, but also helps students develop a core understanding of math fundamentals. I prioritize algebra specifically as a subject where students need to really understand it, because other subdisciplines of math such as calculus and trigonometry build cumulatively on top of algebra. I like to keep my students active and sessions interesting because I believe that this level of engagement help students learn better, and I also find that students are able to become confident in their abilities when they are given the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills in math. I'm a current student at UW - Milwaukee, studying computer science. I also have a background in culinary arts. When I have spare time, I like to make music, exercise, cook, read, make games on the computer, and play with my pets.
