Experience
I am an economist (PhD in Economics from UCLA), with over 14 years of tutoring experience. This ranges from early years of being the only calculus tutor during my sophomore year of college, to serving as a teaching assistant and occasional lecturer for a variety of economics and statistics courses. I am well qualified and have recent experience in tutoring AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics, as well as a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate economics and statistics courses. Tutoring offers me an opportunity to develop a personal connection that is simply not possible when teaching larger course. Because of that, my approach is highly individualized, tailored to meet the needs of each student and best play off of my strengths to facilitate improvement. I know that math heavy subjects can be particularly intimidating for some students, so I am fully prepared to present material in a number of ways. This is all a part of searching for what precisely makes the material click for my students. As part of the initial introduction process, we will discussion what specific goals you have in mind, to maximize the effectiveness of both my preparation work and our sessions. I have experience with teaching and tutoring students from a diverse set of backgrounds, including many international students. I frequently will use real life examples and can provide links to data and news articles to help make concepts more concrete. I love economics and statistics is a tool that I frequently use as a part of my day-to-day work, so I do everything I can to channel that into making material accessible and understandable for my students.
