Experience
I have always dreamed of becoming a teacher (all the way back to when I was in first grade when they asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up). I always knew I would be in the educational field, encouraging students in their lifelong learning journey. I am currently working in a suburban Milwaukee high school and this has shown me the many challenges and rewards that come from being an educator. I find it exciting to help students with life skills and academic work. I provide assistance to individuals with special needs even though my degree is in social studies. My experience is with individuals from 5 - 21 years old. My teaching style is using tangible examples and visual aids most of the time, but I incorporate an independent practice into the mix when needed. I believe it is crucial that my students are given the resources and how to use them, so they can navigate their own learning. I help the student to begin understanding a concept, inspire them to keep practicing the concepts to build confidence, and then I step aside unless they need some more instructional help on a subject or specific problem. My favorite part of tutoring is to help students succeed in fully comprehending a subject and becoming confident in their newly discovered skills. My desire is to assist individuals to know their worth and what they can really accomplish with some support.
